Reversal of the free-trade system
Yesterday, the annual licensing session commenced at the police court, Dale-street. The number of applications for new licenses was 158. There was a larger attendance of magistrates than usual at these sessions.

John Houlding, corner of Garden-lane, Everton-brow. Mr. Bremner appeared for the applicant. The house is 90 yards from the nearest public house. Refused by 17 to 4 votes.
