Renton and St Bernard expelled from Scottish Football


Tuesday, September 30 – 1890
On Tuesday evening a meeting of the Business and Professional Committee of the Scottish Football Association was held in Glasgow. In accordance with the constitution and rules number 11, sub-section b, the Renton Club were declared professionals, and expelled from the Association. The Renton Committee were prohibited from taking further part in football affairs in Scotland, and the Renton players who played against the Edinburgh Saints were suspended till 30th April next year. The St Bernard Club were also expelled from the Association, and the players who took part in the match against Renton at Renton last Saturday were suspended till 30th April next.
