  1. My Great Grandfather Tommy Crawshaw of ‘The Wednesday’ played for the English League side at centre half in this match, not his very good friend and team-mate Ambrose Langley. Ambrose was a left back, so he would have been at No. 3, as listed, not at No. 5 as shown above. I know this for certain because I have my Gt Granddad Tommy’s gold medal that he was awarded for this match which bears his name and the match result. The medal’s neat leather case is also marked 1895. Ambrose did play for the English League vs the Scottish League but that was in 1898, in a game which England lost 2-1. You’ve got that spot on right in your page for that match. https://playupliverpool.com/1898/04/09/english-league-v-scottish-league-1-2-inter-league-april-9-1898
By contemporary accounts Ambrose was a very good consistent player but only played in the one representative match for England in 1898. Alongside my Gt Granddad Tommy in defence, they were regulars in Wednesday’s FA Cup winning side of 1896 and their League Championship winning side of 1902-3.

  2. By accident I’ve somehow managed to tag ‘/h’ on to the end of the link above, which takes you to an obituary about Harry Bache. The link below, minus the two errant characters, takes you to the page about the 1898 inter-league match between England and Scotland which Ambrose Langley played in.

As an afterthought – looking at the scorers for the 1898 match, in the above link, it looks like you’ve got Langley as scoring an own goal to put Scotland one up, then Beats scored for England to level – with the winning goal scored by McPherson for Scotland.
Might be worth checking that out though because these two sources below have Hamilton as the scorer of both goals for Scotland in that match. They agree with you about Beats being the lone scorer for England.
