I should think Liverpool will not depend on the present team to carry them through the heavy work which the engagements of the League demands. I believe all the present men except Tom Wilkie and Bernard Battles have signed for next season, and Wilkie is expected to do so, but Battles has returned to the “Celts”. The club have fairly capable reserves at back and half back, but they have no clever forwards to fall back upon. The secretary is away seeking talent in the well thinned preserves of Scotland, and if there is a likely man left “Mac” will book him. But at present there is a dearth of eligible younger fellows, for, as an Everton director remarked, “Money cannot get them.” The club had no reserve team last season, but it is their intention to raise one, and join one of the Lancashire organisations.
