Becton, the old North Ender, has been given a rest by the Liverpool directors, and one that he will feel anything but grateful for.
It appears that Becton holds very strange ideas upon the training rules in vogue, and Tom Watson and his co-workers have in consequence granted him a short holiday, in he hope that time will make him amenable to reason.
Becton is a fine player and will be greatly missed, but rules are meant to be obeyed, and it is to be sincerely hoped that he will ere long be welcomed back to the flock a sadder and wiser man.
Joe McQue, a model young fellow, is also, strange to say, in the black books of the committee, but it is hoped that he, along with Becton will smoke the pipe of peace with Tom and his merry men, and thus make one and all connected with the Liverpool team what they have always been heretofore considered, a happy family.
