Manchester City linked to Frank Becton

It is said that Manchester City could do with Becton, who has been suspended until next month.

Mainman, who has been lately transferred from Everton, made his first appearance for Liverpool Reserve last Saturday against Oswaldtwistle Rovers; but his debut was not of the most promising character, the Anfielders defeating visitors by four goals to nil after an uninteresting game.

Millar, of the Glasgow Rangers, and Gillespie, formerly his partner, in Sunderland, may be booked soon by the Liverpool Club, although Millar’s present club desire the brilliant outside player’s services very much, £60 being offered for his transfer; but which sum is said to be quite inadequate to obtain him. –

Last Monday evening the Lancashire Fusiliers were defeated by the Anfield Reserve by two goals to nil, Geary scoring the second goal after a grand individual run. There was but a poor attendance to see the soldier’s zealous play, their left half and left full back being about the best.
