The agenda for the League annual meeting, issued yesterday, contains an important proposal by Burnley that the League consist of 36 Clubs in two sections. Grimsby Town, who have a somewhat similar proposition, also suggest that the two top Clubs in the Second Division enter First Division without playing test matches. Liverpool advocate a maximum bonus to players of £10 per season, and Burnley ask that Club’s offering bonuses to players in other teams be deemed guilty of misconduct. (Evening Telegraph, 15-05-1897)
