Yesterday, shortly before noon, there was considerable consternation on the Central Pier, at Blackpool, when the sea was running very heavily. Cries for help were heard, and several members of the Blackpool lifeboat crew discovered that a young man named Stuart Newsome, a music-hall artiste, was in the sea.
John Parkinson, William Parkinson, Richard Craven, Richard Gornall, and William Rimmer, all lifeboatmen, set to work with lifebuoys, and rescued him in an exhausted condition. How he came to be in the water did not transpire.
