Thursday, May 4 – 1899
Burnley Football Club have been reported to the Football Association by Darwen for approaching one of the latter club’s players during the football season. The player in question is Jack Dewhurst, a very promising centre forward, who was last week transferred to and played by Blackburn Rovers. It is alleged that Dewhurst was visited by Burnley officials without Darwen’s knowledge, and that he actually promised to join them.
