There is some talk of enlarging the Anfield Road ground. It is narrow-backed at present, and somehow, wen the stands are crowded, it reminds one of a Noah’s Ark arrangement. The stands are inconveniently crowded. Fortunately there is plenty of room to set them back, so that the team need not go elsewhere when they decided to enlarge their borders; they can do it on the present site.
All sorts of grandiose schemes are revolving through the fertile brain of the secretary. He sketched a scheme to me the other day which, if carried out, will number the days of New Brighton Tower for attractiveness. And those who know Mr. Tom Watson will admit that once he gets an idea in his head he does not let it remain there; he does not dream about it, sigh over it, “Ah! If only it could be done!” It can, it will, it must, it shall be done.
Next September the stands will have been deepened, the pitch widened; and there will an inauguration, a ceremonial opening.
