John Lyden sentenced to two months in prison


Saturday, July 8 – 1899
At Bolton, on Saturday, John Lyden, the well-known footballer, who has played for Bolton Wanderers, Halliwell, and Chorley was charged with assaulting a young woman named O’Donnell. It was stated that defendant had been practically living a vagrant life, his employer stating that he had worked about 19 hours since March. Lyden denied that he lived as described. He was committed to prison for two months.
