At last! Liverpool have won a match at last! Hurroo!
They have got rid of that ugly cipher, and if they could only manage to similarly bid adieu to the wooden spoon brigade we Liverpudlians would be perfectly happy.
We don’t expect the boys to annex the League championship this season, miracles having nothing in common with football, but we do expect them to work their way clear of the miserable company they are at present keeping.
Liverpool are looked upon as a highly respectable team, but if they are to retain that respect they will have to hurry up and hid the wooden spoon members of the League a hasty adieu.
Now that a start has been made on the upward tack the Liverpudlians should sail merrily ahead. Hard work lies before them, but they must tackle it like men.
Liverpool are worthy of a high place in the League ladder, and it behooves them to turn what is now supposition into absolute reality.
Hurry up, boys!
