The respective secretaries of the Stoke, Liverpool, and Portsmouth clubs appear to have gone through a very bad time lately. To the account of each, either directly or indirectly, a fearful error of omission has been charged – nothing less than neglect to make entry for next season’s English Cup competition at the appointed time. And so the names of Stoke, Liverpool, and Portsmouth do not appear on the list from which the Football Association will make its selection of clubs to be exempt from competing in the qualifying rounds next autumn.
