The Football League and the Southern League

Monday, May 7 – 1900
The Football League will meet in Manchester next Wednesday afternoon, when several matters of importance will be discussed. Certain allegations are to be inquired into, and clubs are to be asked for explanations.

It is stated, on indispuitable authority, that some informal negotiations have taken place between the Southern League and the Football League, with a view to an amalgamation.

At any rate, Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton, Millwall, Portsmouth, Bristol City, and Reading have seriously taken the matter into consideration, have met the officers of the League, and will again forgather during this week to decide upon a course of action.

The Football League and the Southern League have already agreed to recognise each other’s registrations.
