Blackburn Park Road v Liverpool Reserves
There was a large attendance of spectators at the Audley Hall Ground, where Liverpool played a very strong team. Park Road won the toss, and elected to play downhill. Liverpool opened the attack, but were pulled up for offside. McGhee worked close to the Liverpool goal, and then collided with John Glover. The former had to retire for a short time. Harry Storer was called up to save a good high shot from Stuart. Liverpool were awarded a corner, which was put behind. Andy McGuigan afterwards struck the side of the net, Hartley spoiling his shot in the nick of time. After this the Liverpool men attacked repeatedly, the home backs clearing well. Both goals were hotly assailed, and Law shot past Storer just on the interval.

Half-time: Park Road, 1; Liverpool Reserves 0.

The second half opened fast, the Liverpool forwards attacking, but all in vain. The Park Road defence was playing well, Heywood’s saves especially being very fine. McGhee, on the home right, repeatedly troubled Grey John Morris, and Storer was called upon to save good shots from Jackson and Stewart. Liverpool continued to press, and smart work by the home defence cleared danger time after time. John Davies was responsible for some smart work. Park Road at last forged their way up the field, Heywood and Stewart getting the ball well in. McGhee received and Morris was forced to concede a corner. The ball was dropped into the goal, but the point was disallowed for offside. Liverpool could not be kept away, and Davies scored with a fast low shot.

Result: Park Road, 1; Liverpool Reserves 1.
