In the Combination match, Bury Reserves v. Liverpool Reserves, at Gigg-lane, Bury, this afternoon, the Bury directors are giving a trial, with a view to engagement, to Sergeant Brooks, of the Lancashire Fusiliers. He will take the centre forward position. Sergeant Brooks has recently returned from South Africa, where he took part in the Spion Kop engagement, and he is now on a month’s furlough. He belongs to Bury, and expects his discharge shortly. He has played in the Army competitions and also with Sittingbourne, and is very well spoken off.
