The 100 yards footballers’ championship

Dundee have received a large entry for the various events at their sports on Saturday at dens Park. The 100 yards footballers’ championship has brought out an entry of 16, including Bobby Templeton (Aston Villa), Andy McGuigan (Liverpool), William Halley (Bolton Wanderers), Graham (Rangers), Janes (Forfar Athletic), Blair (Hearts), and McDiarmid (Dundee).

  1. Any idea if McGuigan competed in the race ,Ihave been collecting information on him as he is one of very few professional players born in my home town. Thanks great source of info from your site. Stephen

    1. Hi Stephen. Welcome to the site, and thanks for the kind words. I do not know if he ran. The results given in Dundee Courier does not mention his name, but then again it only mention the first two, both in the heats and in the final. I will keep an eye on it and let you know if I find out more.

      Regarding McGuigan I believe there is some errors regarding his career in most places. I don’t think he ever played for Southport Central. Instead he played for Brynn Central. When media saw the “Central” they probably thought of Southport. There is an article about on my website. Let me know if you if you cannot find it.
