** Middlesbrough are reported to be anxious to secure the transfer of John “Sailor” Hunter from Liverpool.
** Celtic yesterday signed on a new goalkeeper in McPherson, of Greenock Morton, who made his debut for them last night against the Rangers. McPherson, who has a good reputation, played for Scotland against Wales this season. Liverpool and several English League clubs were in treaty for his transfer.
