About four o’clock on Saturday afternoon a train of empty carriages was being shunted through a tunnel into the Central Station at Liverpool when an engine, proceeding through the tunnel on the same line, crashed into the first carriages.’ Two carriages were telescoped, and five or six were thrown off the line. Both the up and down rails were blocked, and some hours elapsed before traffic could be resumed. No one was injured.
