Robert Marshall, the Portsmouth ring wing forward, has established what surely must be a record. Since he left Liverpool at the end of the season of 1898-1899 to join Portsmouth he has taken part in no fewer than 217 of the 223 matches played by his present club, and during the four seasons he has only missed on Southern League match.
