Meeting of the Football Association


Monday, November 9 – 1903
The Council met at 104, High Holborn, yesterday, Mr. J.C. Clegg, in the chair.

Applications for direct membership by the Jarrow Club was granted.

The commission of the Football Association and Rugby Union appointed to consider foreign tours recommended that he minute necessitating that consent be obtained by clubs or teams desiring to tour be rescinded. The consideration of this matter was deferred until another meeting.

Applications from various bodies for alterations of clubs and rules were sanctioned.

The Finance Committee were unable to recommend Park Royal for this year’s final cup-tie.

As to the Crystal Palace ground, there is considerable difference between the Palace authorities and the Finance Committee as to the amount which the Crystal Palace Company should receive. The committee think that the offer which they have made to the Palace directors is most liberal, and that, as the Palace directors are unable to accept it, the committee are unable to recommend that the match be played at the Crystal Palace.

The Finance Committee ask for instructions to inquire and report as to the other ground suitable for the match.

The report was adopted.

Permission was given for Manchester United to play a match on 28 December for the benefit of Billy Griffiths.

It was decided to print and circulate a poster for posting on grounds, giving the chief points of the laws of the game.
