A Birmingham scribe is responsible for the story that Aston Villa had the offer of John Cox, of Liverpool, last week for a sum less than £400. I rather fancy the Villa would snap him at a sum considerably more than the amount stated above.
It is no secret Everton offered Liverpool £600 for Cox during last summer, but the left-winger had no desire to go to Goodison Park.
