Chinamen for Liverpool

Wednesday, November 28 – 1906
The Immigration Board met in London on Wednesday and decided that the 32 Chinamen detained under the Aliens Act should be admitted. Evidence was given by several Chinese laundry keepers, who said they would employ the men.

A petition was laid before the Board from a large number of Liverpool residents protesting against the admission, and letters were read from the Chief Constable of Liverpool and Bootle stating that some of the prospective employers would give guarantee that the men would not come on the rates.
