The accompanying photograph is that of the spacious ground of the Sheffield Wednesday Club, which came into existence in 1866. For many years the Wednesday Club played at live Grove, but the old ground had to be relinquished several years ago on account of Midland Railway extensions. Owlerton, the present ground, is pleasantly situated far from the smoke of the city, and the freehold, were commerce to override the claims of sport, could be disposed of to-day for many times what the club gave for it. There are, it will be seen, three large covered stands.
