Charles Hewitt transferred to Liverpool

June 17, 1907
Though an oversight the Middlesbrough Club omitted to place Charles Hewitt, the noted forward who left them two years ago for Tottenham Hotspur, on the transfer list. When Hewitt left for Tottenham Middlesbrough were on the point of transferring him to Liverpool for £400, but the player upset the arrangements by going South.

On the issue of the transfer list the other day, Liverpool noticing Middlesbrough had failed to add Hewitt’s name to their list of retained or open-to-transfer players, and, the player being unsigned, promptly secured him, thus getting for nothing a forward they were willing to pay £400 for two seasons ago.
