Preston North End have signed George Baker (24), a full back of Chesterfield, who has been with the latter club three seasons, and can play either right or left back. He is reputed to be of considerable speed, and puts much energy into his play.
He stands 5ft. 9in., and weighs 11 stone. The North End team has been training industriously each day since Tuesday under the new trainer, Joseph Clayton. The first practice match will take place on August 16.
