Abe Hartley dies


Saturday, October 9 – 1909
Abe Hartley, formerly a well-known footballer, who played for Dumbarton, Everton, Liverpool, and Southampton, died suddenly, on Saturday, at Southampton Docks, where he was employed. He was standing outside the pay office, when he fell to the ground and expired, apparently from heart failure. (Exeter and Plymouth Gazette, 11-10-1909)
