Charge against a football official


November 30, 1909
Benjamin Crompton, well known in Association football circles, and formerly secretary of Hull City Football Club, was charged with forging bankers’ cheques for £285. Prisoner when arrested said, “I’m sorry.” A remand for six days was granted, bail being refused.
