Alderman John Brewer, chairman of the Swindon Football Club, died yesterday, aged 63. He had been connected with the Great Western Railway for over 30 years, starting as a telegraph boy at Truro Station in 1859, and retiring in 1909 after having been stationmaster at Swindon station for 12 years.
