Alex Raisbeck still got it

Wednesday, November 16 – 1910
It is pleasing to note that Alex Raisbeck, the famous centre half back, who delighted Anfield enthusiasts a few seasons ago, is showing great form with Partick Thistle.

When Alex left Anfield a couple of seasons ago there were those who believed that the fair-haired footballer had finished his career as a player of the first water, but since he returned to his native land Raisbeck has gradually regained all his old resource and cleverness, and today he is playing as well as ever he did during his brilliant career.

During the latter portion of his stay at Anfield the noted Scot appeared to be failing rapidly and lacking ability, but the air of his native Scotland would seem to have restored to him all his old vigour. He is leading the Partick Thistle team in really great style, and his play has had not a little to do with the Thistle’s meritorious victories over the previously unbeaten Clyde and Aberdeen clubs.

Raisbeck’s influence on a team cannot be over-estimated – we remember the effect of Raisbeck’s presence on the Liver’s play when at Anfield – and he is now the real leader of the greatly improved Partick Thistle team. The veteran’s form is surprising the Scots.

On Saturday Raisbeck was the outstanding figure of the match, and his fine defensive tactics did more than anything else to bring about the discomfiture of the Clyde sharp-shooters. He was here, there, and everywhere as of old.
