Liverpool’s Ronald Orr is one of the game’s longest service player, for it was as far back as May, 1896, that he left the ranks of Kilwinning Eglington to join Paisley St Mirren, to eventually pass for distinguished service into the keeping of Newcastle United. Originally a wing player, one recalls Orr being described in those fine days of the late nineties as “a good worked who passes with neatness and precision, fairly fast, and an adept at placing into goal.”
