Liverpool – A football mad city

Monday, October 7 – 1912
Football is losing none of its popularity in Liverpool, and both at Everton and Anfield the attendance are simply surprising. In their first three home fixtures Liverpool took over £2,000 at the gates, while the Villa’s visit to Goodison Park enriched the club’s coffers by upwards £1,450. The official figures of the number present at the game between Everton and Liverpool on Saturday are not yet available, but there were certainly over 40,000 persons present.
