Alterations at the Palace

Wednesday, April 8 – 1914
The alterations at the Crystal Palace ground are proceeding apace, and I understand the work is approaching completion. A friend who visited the Palace the other day tells me that the accommodation will be much better than it was last year, when thousands of people who paid for admission were unable to see the play.

One of the large stands has been taken away and terracing put up in its place, so as to afford a better view. Stand D has been increased to twice its former size, while the roof of Stand A has been removed, and this will afford a good view from the back where thousands of people may see the play from the banks.

It is apparent that, though the time at their disposal has been too great, the Crystal Palace people have pushed the work forward at a goody pace.

The Palace ground as it stands is admittedly not so comfortable as it might be for a match of such importance, but in time no doubt a better understanding between the FA and the Palace authorities will lead to greater improvements.
