South Liverpool v Liverpool.
There were fully 2,000 spectators present at Dingle Lane last evening to witness a friendly match between the above clubs. The visitors had a strong team. Liverpool had the best of the opening play, and after five minutes Tom Gracie scored, after James Dawson had headed against the crossbar. With the incline in their favour the visitors tested Bradshaw’s abilities several times, but he came out of the ordeal with great credit. Nearing the interval the home team made grand efforts to get on equal terms, but Elisha Scott kept a good goal, and was well supported by Ephraim Longworth and Robert Crawford. The second half was mostly in favour of the South, and towards the end of the game they gave a creditable display, and on three occasions were nearly through. Try as they would, the home team could not manage to get on level terms, and the visitors retired winners of a good game.
Result: Liverpool Reserves 1 goal, South Liverpool nil.
