Tottenham Hotspur have had an unpleasant experience with the Pforzheim Football Club (says the Stuttgart correspondent of the London “Daily Express”), and will doubtless retain lively recollection of the end of their 1914 Continental tour for many a day.
Play was very rough all through, and the ‘Spurs, who won by 5-0, were assaulted by their opponents and spectators as they were leaving the field.
Joyce, the ‘Spurs goalkeeper, was struck with an umbrella and had his head cut.
Pearson, the back, received an injury to his head from a stone thrown by a spectator.
The chairman (Mr. C.D. Roberts) was also stoned and robbed of £15 while trying to escape from the hostile crowd.
The whole party leave to-day (Monday) for London.
