Manchester, which already possesses one of the finest football enclosures in the country, is to have another and even larger ground, the Manchester City Club having just completed the purchase of a plot of land with a view to the erection of a ground capable of ultimately holding 100,000 spectators.
The need for a new enclosure has been a pressing one, for in recent seasons the Hyde Road ground has been utterly inadequate on occasions. Situated in close proximity to Bellevue, the new site is on the penny car route, and is easily reached on the Great Central Railway. Plans and specifications are now being prepared.
