Saturday, June 20 – 1914
The result of the deliberations of the International Board, which met in Paris last Saturday, have been announced by the Football Association. No mention is made of the offside rule, and it may be taken for granted that Scotland’s proposal that two instead of three opponents should keep a man on-side was rejected.
The alteration to ten instead of six yards for an opponent’s distance from the ball in the case of any free kick became law, and striking was added to the list of malpractices that constitute foul play.
An injured player shall be at once removed outside the nearest goal or touchline and the game resumed, while, after such suspension of play, the ball shall be dropped – not thrown down.
