Peter Somers, the famous internationalist, has died in a nursing home in Glasgow as the result of operation necessitating amputation of a foot and part of his leg. Somers, who was a native of Motherwell, and thirty-six years old, originally played for Celtic, then joined Blackburn Rovers, subsequently returning to Celtic.
He was capped for Scotland v. Ireland and Wales on three occasions, and also played for Scottish League v. English League and Irish League.
