Liverpool welcomes McGhie to Anfield

December 16, 1915
Stoke comes to us on Saturday next, and after their long absence from our midst – they have been “gallipoling” in foreign waters (i.e., Southern League) all too long – we shall be happy to extend a big warm welcome to them. Liverpool have decided to play Alex McGhie at outside left, in an endeavour to solve that ticklish problem. Unfortunately McGhie has been too busy to help the club much, but good judges say that he has deputised for Jocky Simpson and Hodkinson, and that he is better at outside left than outside right. Wadsworth gets a run, too, McKinlay being absent. There can be no doubt about it; Saturday’s game at Anfield looks like being a most enjoyable affair.
