No “back-scratcher” for Wadsworth

January 20, 1916
Liverpool, against Bury, have chosen the same side that represented them last week at Rochdale, save that Sam Speakman is to play at full back instead of Middlehurst. Thus we shall have a chance to see Wadsworth operating again. This tall young fellow is one of the few locals capable of keeping his place without a “back scratcher,” and the day is not far distant when he should figure regularly in a senior side. Like many other half-back of his style, he is chopped about a deal in team selections, and sometimes fills the bill at full back. This is Liverpool’s side: Elisha Scott, Ephraim Longworth, Sam Speakman, Norman Bradley, Arthur Goddard, Walter Wadsworth, Ernest Pinkney, Wilfred Watson, Fred Pagnam, William Banks, Donald Mackinlay.

Liverpool v. Bury. – At Anfield, Saturday next, 2.45. Admission 6d. (Stands Extra).
