Unlucky assistant secretary of Liverpool

March 1, 1916
Is there an unluckier fellow than Mr. George Patterson? He’s the acting secretary of Liverpool F.C. Though looking strongly built, I know of a surety that when he played for Orrell and other well known senior-junior clubs, he had cracks and bumps that made him something of a novel physical structure. Now the darkened street have made him their toll. Last week, when he was journeying home, he ran into a tree and cut his forehead. Stitches were necessary, and apparently the injury was mending nicely when on Saturday the cold air seems to have crept in, and the wound has taken bad ways. Everyone will join me in wishing Mr. Patterson a speedy recovery.
