Let me congratulate the Liver players on their remarkable “orphanage” stand – they are alone in their absence from defeat since Stoke and Sheffield United were “put to rest” on Saturday last. Everton’s first home defeat came as a stunning blow, but the absence of some of their best forwards must be recognised. Tommy Bennett has kept his place at the top of the scorers chart, and continued his record of a goal per match. Hugh Lester, who scored at Everton, is the former Liverpool F.C. player and sprinter.
