Passing along the main street of Darwen the other day (writes a correspondent) I noticed a sign fixed on the wall “To Barley Bank. This was the home of Darwen F.C. thirty years ago, and which was seized by the sheriff when the club “broke.” The sign is well preserved yet.
By the way, George Parsonage, the old Brentford player is mine host of the Anchor Hotel, outside Darwen’s present ground.
