A successor to Jack Sheldon

With Jack Sheldon still nursing his broken leg, Liverpool have searched everywhere for a successor and a fortnight ago secured Cyril Gilhespy, a youngster from Sunderland. He is a native of Chester-le-Street, and played in 14 games with the Rokerites last season.

There is something of a mystery about his transfer, as he refused to re-sign for Sunderland.
