The growing wealth of the Liverpool Club

Monday, January 9 – 1922
During the recent festive season all records for the Liverpool F.C.’s ground at Anfield-road were left behind. Two victories were gained on successive days, and on each occasion the previous best figure were passed and a new set established, which demonstrated the wonderful attractive powers of Liverpool’s present-day team.

On Boxing Day Newcastle were eclipsed before a crowd of 48,362, and the following day the crowd numbered 47,195 people. As will be seen, nearly 100,000 witnessed the two contests, and the receipts could not be much under £6,000.
