A rumour that Manchester City may secure Maxwell, the Kilmarnock centre-forward, when his club are knocked out of the Scottish Cup competition, and that Fred Tilson may be transferred to Liverpool are officially denied by Mr. Wilf Wild, manager of Manchester City.
“There is not the slightest truth in either story,” said Mr. Wild. “We have never seen Maxwell since the beginning of the season, and with regard to Tilson, all I can say is that it is ridiculous. We are out to strengthen our team, and not weaken it. We should never think of parting with Tilson.”
