John Carlin, who played for Liverpool F.C. thirty years ago, and passed away on Friday last, is to be buried at Allerton Cemetery to-morrow (Wednesday) at 3:30 p.m. Carlin was with Liverpool for four and a half-seasons, finishing in 1906. He was also with Barnsley and Preston North End, where he sustained a couple of broken ribs, which ended his football career.
An all-round athlete, he won many prizes with the Sefton Harriers, and was one of the best bowlers in the Eton club, where he had a long association with the late Mr. Thomas Crompton – both fine sportsmen.
