Cecil McCaughey transferred to Southport

Southport F.C. have signed Cecil McCaughey, a right half, from Cardiff City. A native of Bootle, McCaughey played with Liverpool ‘A’ and Liverpool St. James at the start of his career, and joined Blackburn Rovers from Burscough Rangers six years ago. He was then a centre half, and played for two years with the Rovers, chiefly in the Central League side.

He joined Coventry City at the start of the 1935-36 season, and helped that club to gain promotion to the second division the following season. He had been with Cardiff for two seasons. He is 27 years of age, 5ft. 10½in., and 11st. 12 lbs.
