Man killed by wheel rim

Saturday, December 30 – 1939
A verdict that death was due to laceration of the brain and shock, caused by his being struck on the head with a rim which accidentally became detached from a wheel which he was replacing, was recorded at the Wallasey inquest last night on Wilfred Lea, aged 47, of Burnley-road, Moreton, a motor-driver employed by Mr. Walter Wadsworth, a haulage contractor and former Liverpool footballer.

Lea died in the Victoria Central Hospital on Thursday morning, two hours after the accident.
