A “Fitness for Service” campaign backed by the Government, for boys and men over sixteen, was announced in London yesterday by the Central Council of Recreative Physical Training, who stated: “Victory will be delayed, or even jeopardised, unless the stamina of every youth and man in the country is raised and maintained at the highest possible level.”
“The scheme will give youths and men the opportunity of taking part in voluntary physical training and games. During the summer training will take place at football and other sports grounds, and it is hoped to obtain suitable halls for use in the winter. The Football Association and co-operating with the Council, and have arranged for centres in London to be opened. Arrangements for other centres in London and the provinces are being made.
